What is nothingness?

Is nothingness a feeling? A physical state? Is it the absence or presence of something? Or perhaps it is the space - no, gap - between feeling, state, absence and presence - something utterly imperceivable.

This piece attempts to capture nothingness through the placement of the sliding fish. Where does the fish need to be, or not need to be, to accurately reflect nothingness?
