They’re headed West. A massive migration - but to where? And why? Are they the ones carrying the balloons, or is it the other way around?

This series was influenced by the Montgolfier brothers’ 18th century invention Aerostat Reveillon - the first hot air balloon. Regarded as the “Montgolfier art,” the invention was a step closer to man’s untenable “dream of flight.”

We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of technology, and history tells us that we take it as our destiny. (Much like the mindset of early colonists and imperialists - also a reference to manifest destiny) Like the Aerostat Reveillon, where animals were attached to it for experimental purposes, we’ve advanced at the expense of animals.

Our procession to Utopia is a glamorous one, but as Icarus’s infatuation with the sun’s scorching blaze, we might as well experience our fall from grace if we fail to recognize the consequences that result from our advancement.
